The Fam

Saturday, November 5th, 2011

The best part of having a brother who is a photographer is always having someone to take your family pictures. This one was shot across the street from my condo, where every year for about three weeks we are lucky enough to have acres of sun flowers.

Brother and Sister

Saturday, October 29th, 2011

Two of the adorable kids that we took pictures of this morning. The family is 13 people total, but they are a complete joy to work with. This is the second year we have done their pictures and we’ve had a great time both times.

My Favorite Witch

My favorite witch from a Halloween Party we shot last night. We had a ton of fun and got to see lots of great costumes!

Type Written

Saturday, August 6th, 2011

A couple of weeks ago we got our hands on a sweet old Smith Corona typewriter after my wife came up with a great idea for a new photo project. The images you see above are the first step in that photo project. It was a bit tricky getting each letter to line up right, but overall I’m very happy with how they turned out.

We are also going to be offering custom images using these same letters: first and last name banners, monograms or your favorite sayings are probably first on the list. If there is something you think you might like just give us a shout and we can get you pricing.

Sellers Family Photoshoot

Friday, June 17th, 2011

When the Sellers family (Dalan, Jessi and the adorable Quinn) asked where we would recommend we do their photo shoot, I listed off a couple of the usual suspects, mostly local parks. But I also said if they were feeling a little daring and wanted to do something out of the ordinary than we could do a shoot in the more industrial area of downtown Salt Lake City, something that I’ve been really excited about trying for a while. They jumped on the opportunity and I’m really happy that they did.

Colby and I have shot a ton in that area, but it’s always been urban photography, not people. I think that the pictures turned out really well and are very different than than a lot of the shoots we have done in the past. I think the location would be perfect not only for families but also for a bridal shoot for an adventurous bride.

Waiting for Spring

This was taken in the Gilgal Sculpture Garden in Salt Lake City, UT. According to Wikipedia “The park, which is filled with unusual symbolic statuary associated with Mormonism, was a labor of love designed and created by LDS businessman Thomas Battersby Child, Jr. in his spare time. The park contains 12 original sculptures and over 70 stones engraved with scriptures, poems and literary texts.”
